Who we are.
Our church.
We are a new church in the heart of Pocklington made up of people of every age and stage of life who share in common that together with Christians all over the world, we belong to, love, serve and trust Jesus Christ, and aim to live for him and make him known.
Our story so far.
In 2018 Trinity Church York began running a small group bible study to support Christians in East Riding who were looking for a chance to study the Bible mid-week. Over the years this group grew and gathered in people who were not necessarily connected to Trinity, but who enjoyed the fellowship.
Sadly, like all groups meeting in peoples homes, it came to an abrupt stop with the arrival of covid lockdowns. However, these restrictions gave rise to an exciting opportunity. Although we could not meet in peoples homes during lockdown we could meet for worship services. So in July 2021 our small group became a church service meeting in a marquee in a members garden. And the long story short is that we never stopped.
We now have a small but growing group of new faces that meet every Sunday at 4pm in Burnby Community Hall for our worship services. What started out small God had grown so much that our denomination (The International Presbyterian Church) decided to establish as its own church.
We hope this new church will give an opportunity for Christians and anyone else in Pocklington to come and join in with the worship of God, and perhaps to discover Jesus and Christianity for the first time. Everyone is welcome, whether Christian or not, and whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth.
Our elders.
We believe that the bible teaches that the Church is to be led by elders, you can find he qualifications for elders in the bible - (1 Timothy 3 & Tits 1:5-9). These elders are to care for and lead the church, they seek to do that by devoting themselves to God’s Word, prayer and pastorally looking after the church family.
